This is Marcel Zuniga and when I interviewed him he said that in the beginning of Highschool he was worried because he didn’t know where his classes were, he didn’t know who he was gonna be with, and he didn’t know what the work would be like.
Marcel Zuniga said that the main three differences are, “I feel like in high school, the teachers don’t like to baby you as much. You have to be on top of your work, like, if you miss something, they’re not going to remind you. So you just have to be on top of your work a lot more. But also you get a lot more freedom.”
When I interviewed Marcel Zuniga he explained his opinions on how different Middle School is from High School.
Marcel Zuniga shares that his main goals for this year is “I want to finish the school year with, like, good grades, and most of my classes, A’s. I want to play on the JV soccer team, and I just want it to be like a good experience.”
I also asked Marcel what classes he is taking and he said, “ I have marketing honors. I’m taking that because I’ve always been kind of interested in, like, to see how it would be to maybe run like a side, like a hobby or business. I’m taking geometry honors because that means my senior year I would be able to finish school like an hour early. I’m taking, like, all the mandatory classes, but I’m also, next year, I’m taking, I think, principles of marketing, which is like a different class, but it’s like, it’s marketing. It’s the same thing.”
Next I asked what class is most difficult for him and he stated that “it’s definitely geometry honors, because we cover a lot. I only have it for half the year. So we cover a lot of material, cover a lot of work every class, and then I have, like, close to an hour of homework basically every day, and then I’ll have a test like every week and a half.”
My last question was about if he would go back to middle school and if yes why? Marcel shared, “I mean, I’m happy in middle school but I wouldn’t go back. I wouldn’t say I prefer middle school or high school.”
In conclusion, Marcel Zuniga discusses his high school experience, noting how to navigate to classes and the difficulty of math. He mentions how he is aiming to get good grades, to play on the JV soccer team, and to have a positive ninth-grade year. He is motivated by family happiness. In his classes, he finds marketing interesting and geometry challenging due to its demanding workload. Despite the challenges, Marcel prefers high school over middle school.
